Emily Duval, Psy.D., LPCC

Psychotherapist, San Diego, California

Emily Duval, PsyD, LPCC, brings nearly three decades of clinical mental health experience across international settings. She is a licensed psychotherapist, Doctor of Psychology in Organization Development, and is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Having lived and worked in the United Kingdom for a decade as an adult, Dr. Duval experienced firsthand the challenges of acculturation, identity disruption, and struggles in establishing a sense of belonging.  Throughout the years, she provided therapy services to clients who had emigrated from other nations.  Later, she faced the underrated complexities of repatriation when returning to the US. Her perspectives are deepened by her own background as the second generation in an immigrant family. These circumstances have shaped her approach to helping people and organizations navigate systemic changes with compassion and curiosity.

Dr. Duval has served internationally as a critical incident responder, and has been specializing in suicide postvention as a counselor, consultant, keynote speaker, trainer, and group facilitator. She is currently based in California, employed by the San Diego County Behavioral Services in Quality Management, and co-chairs the San Diego Suicide Prevention Council’s Postvention Subcommittee.
